Build and Infrastructure Technician
Unity Technologies is looking for a Build and Infrastructure Technician.
If you want an instrumental role in making the Unity product successful, addressing new problems every day, and being part of a world-class team, then come work with us. You will have a key role in making sure that our software is of the best quality.
Things you'll work on:
Your primary role will be to manage the build farm used to build and test Unity -- a large network of machines running Windows, OS X, and Linux. You will test upgrades and modifications to the server infrastructure, work with IT to deploy modifications and upgrades, and fix day to day issues (expired licenses, networking problems, etc). You will also be responsible for monitoring the state of the build on Unity's continuous integration server and notifying developers, when they have made a change that has broken a build. You will work as the "right hand" of Unity's build engineer and work closely with IT to make sure the entire system is running smoothly.
Tasks include:
- Managing Unity's automated build farm, including the build machines and the continuous integration server.
- Fixing day-to-day issues, such as network problems, expired licenses, and hardware failures.
- Monitoring the state of the software on the continuous integration server. Fix build failures caused by infrastructure issues and notifying developers when they have broken the build.
- Addressing performance problems or other issues affecting the efficiency of the build network.
- Figuring out how to deploy changes to a large network of machines.
Requirements:
- Experience working as a system administrator, specifically administering Linux servers.
- Experience with operating system and network debugging.
- Must be experienced in profiling and optimizing operating systems and networks.
- Ability to learn new software systems and take on new roles.
- Initiative to fix problems without being told.
- Ability to move quickly from one task to another when priorities suddenly change
- Motivation and a good attitude
- Good written and verbal communication skills in English.
- Knowledge of programming is a requirement, but professional programming experience is not required.
