Firmware architect for digital camera systems

Job profile
We are looking for a highly skilled firmware architect to strengthen our R&D development team in creating firmware for digital camera systems. We are currently working on a new camera firmware platform, which will be used in a series of upcoming high-end products.

Our Company
Phase One is the World leader in open-platform based medium format camera systems and solutions. Our product range covers digital imaging products with resolutions from 22 Mpixels to 80 Mpixels. They are used worldwide along with our RAW workflow image processing software, Capture One, which is a widely used benchmark product enhancing the image quality and workflow for Digital SLR cameras from Canon, Nikon, Sony, etc. Phase One also owns and controls Leaf Imaging and Mamiya. Recently Phase One also acquired the Expression Media digital asset management software from Microsoft.

Today we are a total of app. 240 employees in Phase One, Leaf Imaging and Mamiya - with R&D primarily placed in Copenhagen, Tel Aviv, and Tokyo. We have offices in USA, Japan, England, Germany, Israel and China.

The position
You will be part of the Copenhagen hardware team of Phase One R&D. With emphasis on teamwork, you will be working in close cooperation with our team and our partners around the world, within the following areas of expertise:

• Embedded software architecture focused on performance, maintainability and testability
• Development of firmware and low level drivers for digital camera backs
• Camera body firmware
• Communication protocols between digital camera systems and desktop computers, laptops and smart phones
• Wired communication using USB and IEEE1394 (Firewire)
• Wireless communication using the latest high speed technologies
• Software which controls and interacts with hardware modules
• C/C++ for ARM as well as other processors and microcontrollers
• Real-time multitasking kernels
• Participation in requirement collection and handling
• Cooperation with hardware designers on testing solutions
• Informal iterative work methods - Agile development

Qualifications
Experienced software architect with excellent knowledge of embedded systems.

• Experience with object oriented analysis and design
• Thorough experience with C/C++
• Expertise in embedded software systems and processors
• Open and communicative
• Experience with hard realtime embedded control software
• Analytic, systematic and thorough
• Experience with multiprocessor systems
• Understanding of software frameworks and framework design

It is an advantage if you have experience or knowledge within the following fields:

• Agile development methods
• USB stacks
• TCP/IP stacks
• WiFi solutions
• Porting of communication protocol stacks between different operating systems  
• Embedded high performance portable devices
• Development of full feature rich embedded firmware platform starting from scratch until deployment in final products 
• Digital photography
