Instructional Designer & Writer

Technical Writer for Training Material for international, market leading company
Milestone Systems, the leading global developer of open platform IP video management software, provides training and certification for the company’s partners, and employees. Training and certification seminars are instructor-led and classroom-based, and held more than 200 times per year across the world. We also plan to add further value to the training and certification experience through supplementary use of online media.

We are looking for a full-time Instructional Designer & Writer to work in our Technical Writing & Localization team, based in Brøndby, near Copenhagen, Denmark. The team possesses large amounts of product knowledge and technical communication skills, and will drive the production of all materials needed for Milestone Systems’ training and certification forward. The team is not directly involved in the actual classroom training—a team of dedicated instructors manage that—and only occasional travel is therefore expected.

Responsibilities and tasks

• Analyze and monitor the training requirements of partners and employees.
• Develop learning objectives and course outlines.
• Write and edit highly technical training material (seminar presentation materials, course handbooks, hands-on exercises, tests/exams, and instructor notes and guides) through interfacing with subject matter experts and re-purposing existing documentation.
• Effectively use adult learning principles, and ensure training and certification curricula address current product features as well as relevant student knowledge levels and job responsibilities.
• Participate in pilot testing of training and certification curricula.
• Monitor student and instructor feedback to identify possible improvement of training effectiveness.
• Interface with stakeholders to establish strategy and deliver projects on time. 

Professional and personal requirements

• Degree in Instructional Design, Education, Technical Communication, Computer Science, Engineering, or equivalent experience.
• Experience with technical writing, especially with development of training materials for hi-tech software/hardware curricula.
• Experience with learning management systems and tools such as Captivate, Camtasia, FrameMaker, RoboHelp, MS Office.
• Technical experience with hardware, software applications, and network technologies.
• Excellent written and verbal English communication skills.
• Ability to synthesize complex information, and present it according to target groups’ needs.
• Ability to work independently, prioritize tasks and meet tight deadlines.
