The team and your role

With reference to our User Experience Manager, we are now looking for a talented User Experience Designer that can help develop products that are more powerful, more intuitive and more compelling to use. As our new User Experience Designer you will join the User Experience Manager in forming the UX team at Milestone Systems. The team is responsible for the User Experience research and design of all Milestone Systems' products.

Your responsibilities

As a User Experience designer you will work proactively with product managers, solution architects, developers and other disciplines to help them understand how to anticipate and meet the needs of customers.

For each product release you will be assigned to specific feature areas and will be responsible for the interaction and visual design of the features within these areas. Although your focus is UX design, your work will touch all aspects of user experience including: Requirements gathering, tasks analysis, scenario specification, wire-framing, prototyping, visual design and design validation.

Job tasks
Your role will include tasks throughout the development process from early feature requirements gathering over functional specification and feature design, to final fit and finish review. Your main tasks include:

• Ensure design problem and goals are clearly defined and actionable.
• Plan own deliverables according to overall project plan.
• Analyze user data findings and communicate the findings to impact design and functionality decisions.
• Create and prioritize end-user scenarios based on user data.
• Develop multiple wireframes and prototypes and iterate the designs based on available data.
• Validate design iterations utilizing proper research methodologies.
• Deliver interaction design and visual design that meets user needs and is compliant with UX guidelines.
• Document the design as part of the companywide UX guidelines.
• Perform UX reviews of other's designs.
• File UX bugs and take active part in resolving UX related bugs.

Professional qualifications
You have at least 2 to 3 years of experience working with user-centered design in a software company.

Must have:

• Relevant higher education within IT and design.
• 2+ years of experience with design of applications for Windows, mobile platforms or the web. Please include your design portfolio with your application for review.
• Experience working with Microsoft Expression Blend + SketchFlow or similar design tool.
• Visual design skills and experience working with Adobe Photoshop.
• Thorough knowledge of fundamental user-centered design and research methodologies.
• Experience influencing product designs and directions based on customer needs.
• Experience with creating UX guidelines and documenting design patterns.
• Fluency in English (orally and in writing)

Nice to have:

• Experience with identifying data gaps and utilize research methodologies like customer site visits, user surveys, design reviews and usability tests to close the gaps.
• Experience creating research plans in response to overall product strategy.
