Experienced DBA Developer
Can you handle large data sets from 25 databases that keep 10 million kids playing every month? Would you like to bridge operations and development, by keeping our servers running and collaborate with lots of creative colleagues in a company that still has the entrepreneurial spirit intact?
About the Job
As our new DBA Developer, you will be part of the DevOps Team of 6. Here, your main responsibility is to maintain our many databases, performance analyze/optimize queries and database schemas, and mentor our 10+ backend developers on best SQL practices.
Your typical tasks or projects would be:
- troubleshooting existing MSSQL by diagnosing performance related issues and assisting in performance tuning applications and systems that interact with MSSQL
- helping to write automation scripts that configure, install, upgrade, and patch DB servers
- mentoring our programmers on writing well performing SQL and designing good data models
- defining/documenting processes, best practices, and strategies for databases
- analysing emerging industry and database technology trends and evaluating and recommending DBA tools and new DBMS technologies/versions
We are an informal organisation with processes that can be changed as long as it keep our users happy. So with us, you get to shape the content of your job within its framework and take on more responsibility if you want. Also, we are in rapid growth and constantly changing, so if you need new tools or come up with smarter ways of working, we are ready to try your suggestions.
You love understanding the challenges of your colleagues and translating the challenges into solutions that meet their needs. Being extrovert and cooperative, you are comfortable not knowing what may happen in the course of your work day. You easily switch between tasks – when operations have issues and you need to leave your development tasks, you always keep a cool head, colleagues informed and follow processes and procedures. Moreover, you
- have at least 3 years operational experiences with MSSQL databases, preferable running large systems, e.g. from a large website
- are strong in understanding programming/scripting (coding) and great at SQL optimizing
- are interested in working with other types of datastorages such as NoSQL (DynamoDB), columnar datawarehouses (RedShift) and Spark
- speak and write English effortlessly, as many of your colleagues do not speak Danish
