Maersk Line has launched a strategic programme named Simplification with the aim to optimise the customer experience and realise significant business benefits by simplifying and standardising our processes. We are on a journey that will substantially change the way we conduct our business and engage with customers. The role will report to the Head of the PMO of the program and as such become key to the success of the program. The Project Planner will mainly be responsible for “the way we do planning” in Maersk Line and will ensure that all the project plans are developed professionally and can be consolidated to program level. The PMO is organizationally placed within Maersk Line IT with main location being at Esplanaden, Copenhagen Denmark.

The Project Planner position will have a key role in ensuring that the projects are scheduled professionally in a way that makes it possible for the Project Boards and Program Leadership to identify dependencies and critical paths at project as well as program level.

As Project Planner allocated to the largest transformational program currently running in Maersk Line you will define and implement a professional set-up for how to do project planning within Maersk Line, you will teach, guide and support colleagues with project planning, and assist in the actual planning when needed.
To be successful in the role, the candidate should possess ability to:
- Define & Implement best practice project planning approach and processes within Maersk Line, i.e. ‘The way we do planning’ (making an end-to-end perspective for the complete project lifecycle)
- Proactively driving implementation through teaching, coaching, guidance and support to project and program managers
- Ensuring adherence to the defined approach and the governance put in place for planning processes
- Ensure consolidation of project plans into a program level perspective of the overall schedule
- Focus on the scheduling part of the plan – based upon a known scope and resource constraints
Who we are looking for
The ideal candidate will have minimum 5 years of experience with planning of IT related projects in an international environment, and thrive with all the tasks related to planning.
We expect you to be motivated when guiding colleagues, typically project managers, in making specific project plans which has all the relevant elements of a best practice plan.
In this role you must master the MS-Project tool for scheduling and follow-up, as well as be able to create a solid plan at “whiteboard level” through interaction with the key stakeholders.
Additionally, the candidate perceives the role of planning as a profession in its own right and want to stay with this focus for several years.
Experience with quality review of plans of others as well as teaching capabilities in providing sessions and workshops for project and program managers are highly desired.
Finally, as the corporate language is English you should be fluent in oral as well as written English.
