Wind&Site Software developer
Do you dream about using your skills as software developer to make the world we live in a little bit greener? And work with applications that are heavy on scientific data and algorithms? Then you should consider joining the Vestas Wind & Site software development team. It is our responsibility to develop and maintain the platform which Vestas' global community of Wind & Site engineers use to perform site assessments. And if you have no clue about what Wind & Site is? No problem! Come visit us and we will be delighted to tell you much more about this super interesting domain we work with.
Plant Solutions/Plant Applications/Application Development
Plant Solutions, part of Vestas Power Solutions, are responsible for the products and services related to combining individual wind turbines into a wind power plant. This ranges across SCADA products, power plant security, electrical grid connection and compliance, advanced radar technologies for aviation warnings, wind turbine diagnostics and performance measurements.
Plant Applications is a sub department of Plant Solutions with 45 employees located in Aarhus, Denmark, and a near-shoring setup in Poland. We are responsible for Vestas' Wind & Site software platform, for retrieving data from wind power plants, storing the data within Vestas and building data driven applications that bring value to both internal and external customers.
The activity in the siting software area is increasing and we need a dedicated developer to support and spar with the person who is in charge of the area. In general solutions are outlined and specified by the team here in Denmark and implemented using consultants, either local developers who sit with us at the office or we use the near-shoring setup we have in Poland. Does that mean that all you will ever do is write long requirement specifications? No, not at all. We do coding ourselves too. But it is definitely an advantage if you see yourself more as the extrovert lead developer/architect type than the one who prefers to sit in a basement and code all day long. You will be talking to a lot of different stakeholders in a truly global organization - which is also one of the really exciting aspects of this job.
- Responsible for designing and implementing secure, robust and maintainable solutions
- Transform requirements from stakeholders into generic integration solutions
- Facilitate development tasks which are carried out by external near-sourcing partners
- Coordinate tasks across SCRUM teams and departments
- Preferably you have a relevant IT education such as Computer Science, minimum at a bachelor level, but a candidate without formal papers, but with a strong track record of relevant experience, would also be interesting for us
As a person you have a high level of drive and are able to challenge the existing norms while maintaining flow. You also have the ability to balance your work between short term/urgent and longer term/not urgent. Further we expect that you:
- Are driven by results and can get things done
- Completes work in a timely manner and meets deadlines
- Contributes to building a positive team spirit and treats others with respect
- Fosters collaboration towards a common vision and shared goals
We are looking for a candidate with some of the following technology skills:
- C#/.NET: WPF, WinForms and LINQ
- Web services: ASP.NET Web API and WCF
- MS SQL Server
- Design patterns
- Automated testing
- Continuous Integration: Jira, BitBucket and Bamboo
- LaTex (not mandatory)
In the future we will move our current client-server solution to web, so experience with web based applications is a plus.
- Fluent English (Writing and oral)
What we offer
We offer you the possibility to become part of a team that works with and produce data and applications which are business critical to both our customers and to Vestas. You will have many interested and supportive parties across a large true global organization, which have been consolidated and streamlined over the past few years. You will have excellent opportunities for cross disciplinary and personal development.
The work environment is result orientated, at a high professional level and with a strong technical commitment. But we also know how to have fun and we like to think that our department is a really, really good place to work. We take pride in working as a team and helping each other whenever the need is there.
Primary work location is in Aarhus, Denmark. Travel is limited, but a few days a year must be expected.
For additional information on the position, please contact manager Esben Haldrup Eriksen (Aarhus) at +45 4084 1634.
