Experienced Java Engineer to e-Markets Trading & Advisory

Nordea e-Markets is a trading platform responsible for thousands of foreign currency trades, every day, all year. Billions of euros move through this system, enabling businesses to trade with foreign partners all over the world.
We are building the new generation of the trading platform. This will be the third generation, mobile enabled, fully responsive and using the latest backend and frontend technologies.
The position we offer
You will join the e-Markets Trading & Advisory team, part of Nordea Markets.
You will extend the backend already in place and work closely with colleagues who build the web application and colleagues who have trading experience. The backend is based on services from the previous generation of the platform and current generation. The backend is optimised for concurrent processing of incoming orders, with low latency, high accuracy and stability. It is build with state of the art architecture on infrastructure in our own data centers, for maximum control and delay.
We have high standards for monitoring errors, ensuring security and controlling changes and we expect you to take ownership of that responsibility on the backend. It is important that you have previous experience with rigorous change processes and that you can carry changes all the way through the processes and onto the servers. You will also be responsible for smaller applications already deployed to our infrastructure and responsible for ensuring we always have the best infrastructure in place, with optimal configuration.
The qualifications you need
You are an experienced backend engineer with at least 5 years’ experience in developing large scale backend systems and have knowldge on architectures and infrastructures for complex systems. You could hold a master’s degree in engineering or science.
To be a success you will be proactive in developing improvements for the architecture, for the benefit of other developers and the platform as a whole. You will identify shortcomings and prioritise changes. You will work closely with the business and help analyse and estimate new proposals and shape the proposals to ensure they can be implemented in a way that gives a good return on investment. You will advocate for and drive longterm backend changes by gaining the support of the team and other stakeholders in the organisation.
- Extensive experience with Java development.
- Strong experience with Unit testing and Mocking.
- Experience developing systems with high uptime, low latency and redundancy.
- Strong knowledge of GIT, Linux and Windows administration.
- Experience with 3rd line support, incident management.
- Experience with agile development.
- Goal oriented with a proven track record of meeting goals and deliveries.
- Enjoys interaction with other people.
- Confident English speaker.
