The job - Development and operations working together
As Systems Engineer, you will be part of the Systems Engineering & Integration team, with 6 Software Developers and System Engineers. The team is responsible for the development, integration, installation and operation of solutions to NORDUnet itself and their customers. The customers are academic institutions across the Nordics that have more than 1,2 million daily users. NORDUnet’s activities are centered around network enabled systems and range from low-level network management and control systems to higher-level systems such as telepresence systems.
In your job, you will be responsible for:
- integrating, installing, operating and monitoring installed systems and infrastructure as well as developing operational procedures for the 1st line support team situated in Stockholm
- proactively ensuring the highest levels of systems and infrastructure availability by monitoring and testing application performance for potential bottlenecks
- identifying possible solutions, and working with developers to implement those fixes
- providing 2nd and 3rd level support
- liaising with vendors and other IT personnel for problem resolution.
You will report to the Chief Systems Engineering & Integration Officer.
Your profile - Comfortable not knowing what the day might bring
You hold an academic degree in Computer Science, Engineering or similar combined with proven working experience in installing, integrating, configuring, tuning, automating and troubleshooting Windows server based environments. Relevant Microsoft courses and certifications are considered an additional asset.
As a person you are outgoing, professional and communicative. You thrive with a changing environment, are able to perform in a cross-country organization and can participate in cross border virtual project teams. You are focused, structured and independent and you are fluent in English and able to communicate in the Scandinavian languages.
