At DSV, we want to use Kafka for data analytics and governance on a global scale. We definitely think it can be used better than we do today. Would you like to take a lead role in deciding how?

DSV – global transport and logistics

At DSV, we provide and manage logistics and transport solutions for thousands of companies every day. Data analytics and governance are vital to our operations across terminals and warehouses around the world – and so are the tools that enable all things data.

One of these tools is Kafka, used for stream processing, real-time data pipelines and data integration at scale. It is already implemented here at DSV, but we have yet to design the architecture and define the technical and operational guidelines, which is where you and the Kafka team come into the picture.

The team will initially consist of you and a team lead, but it will slowly grow to include other specialists as your tasks evolve. As such, you will have great opportunity to shape Kafka governance at DSV and your own role too.

Maximise, optimise and revolutionise Kafka use at DSV

As the architect, it is up to you to lead the architectural design and drive solution implementation according to these designs, such as the reference architecture. You will do so in close collaboration with the team lead, solution architects, product owners, scrum teams and many other colleagues across the organisation. You will likewise:

• Create a roadmap together with the team lead
• Produce and maintain solution documentation and governance models for stakeholders such as the project management office, business continuity managers, etc.
• Analyse business requirements and challenges and produce solution designs for the delivery teams
• Plan sprints and releases with colleagues, technology partners and other third-party providers

We’re moving towards a “smart endpoints and dumb pipes” paradigm, which will have a deep impact on integrations here at DSV. Through your work on Kafka and collaboration with so many IT colleagues across the organisation, you will have the opportunity to influence this paradigm shift.

Architect with an understanding of integrations or data

Experience with Kafka isn’t needed, as long as you have an interest in becoming an expert and the ability to communicate on different levels of abstraction depending on the target group. Furthermore, you:

• Have experience in architecting and defining standards and specifications with a particular focus on integrations in a cloud-based environment
• Hold a bachelor’s degree in engineering, computer science or similar
• Are fluent in English
