Python developer

Do you have experience working with Python development? And are you motivated by working in an organisation where the foundation and business rely on a strong data and software setup? Then join our Data Engineering team and get the opportunity to shape the technical landscape of our Python scraper setup.

Here’s what the job entails

In the role, your primary function will be to build and maintain scrapers that fetch data from websites, FTP-servers, APIs and so on, and deliver this data into our data warehouse. Furthermore, you will also participate in development of our scraping framework.

Concretely, your areas of responsibility will include the following:

  • define, develop and maintain Python scrapers. This involves harvesting of massive amounts of data from various open and proprietary data sources and preparing of these for ingestion into our timeseries database
  • provide inputs on the overall scraper and monitoring platform that is based on C#
  • take the technical responsibility of our Python scrapers. Your data engineer colleagues will assist, but you will point out coding patterns, architecture, guidelines, etc.

Meet the team

You will join a developer team that works with building scrapers (Python and C#) and monitoring solutions for our data products. The team consists of four C# and Python developers with various technical backgrounds within the field of software engineering. We are a dedicated team always looking for ways to improve our existing solutions as well as delivering new ones. We always strive to make our solutions robust and performant as they need to run 24/7 with a minimum of support needed.

"Our stakeholders act in the global, ever-changing, never-sleeping energy market – and so do our data solutions." - Karsten Lyngby Laursen, Head of Data Engineering, Front Office.

But enough about us… over to you!

As we currently have 350+ scrapers, we imagine that you thrive on working with structure. We are also looking for someone who enjoys to support current scrapers and develop new ones.

Furthermore, we imagine that you:

  • have a minimum of three years’ experience working with software development
  • are proficient in English – both written and verbal

Please note that it is not a requirement to have prior knowledge of the energy industry to enter this role.
