Software developer for Energy Trading & Risk Management (ETRM)
Are you a curious software developer, motivated by the craft? Are you experienced in .NET, Java or similar? And would you like to join a team with a humour like no other? If so, this opportunity as a software developer might be the perfect match for you!
Here’s what the job entails
In the role, you will gain domain knowledge while working on user stories that will take you through dedicated parts of the ETRM system. Your primary function will be to take part in designing new systems in cross-functional projects and act as a trusted sparring partner for the business, having direct influence on the direction and development of the product. Over time, you will become an expert in many parts of the energy trading domain.
Your areas of responsibility will include:
- develop software in a complex domain
- participate in full development cycles, from inception to delivery, using agile practices
- nurture a coherent application architecture that is fit for purpose
- develop and extend upon our vast Integration Layer to for example capture and expose trades and quantity distributions from and too all relevant sources
Meet the team
As our new software developer in the ETRM team you will work on both greenfield and brownfield development. You will join a team that builds, maintains and operates the centralised trade capturing, position exposure and risk management system landscape in Danske Commodities. Our tech stack is primarily based on the newest .NET versions on which we develop distributed systems. We use Apache Pulsar for brokering messages as well as data across the wire. We talk REST or gRPC when synchronous communication is appropriate. MSSQL is our go-to database. Software delivery is of course continuous and automated, and we deploy primarily on traditional VMs and will soon move to our brand new OpenShift cluster. This also means that we are shifting from Windows to Linux and from servers to containers. We are a bunch of committed developers and business experts, all motivated by their craft. We are curious, and together we eagerly seek out new tech, practices and methodologies to discuss with each other. The culture is informal, and the humour is like no other (at least, according to us). We love to get together for movie nights, go-karting, board games, dinners and everything in between.
"You will be at the heart of Danske Commodities’ value chain and be part of ensuring our ability to mature and scale critical IT solutions." - Christian Hiort Schubert, Head of Software Development - ETRM.
But enough about us… over to you!
We are looking for a curious colleague who loves digging into technical details and exploring new ways of solving problems. It is important that you are team-oriented and values working within and across teams as well as with end-users. Besides, we picture you as someone who gains energy from developing yourself and others through coaching, mentoring and acting as a valued sparring partner for team members and the business.
We imagine that you:
- are experienced in .NET, Java or similar
- have the ability to reason about distributed systems and complex products
- take a holistic approach to system design - from requirements to operations
- understand best practices within code design (SOLID, OOP, Clean code, etc.)
Please note that it is not a requirement to have prior knowledge of the energy industry to enter this role.
