Quantitative analyst

Do you have experience building quantitative models? Are you skilled in mathematics and statistics? And are you curious about energy markets? Then grab this opportunity to become the new quantitative analyst for our Intraday Analysis team and get the unique opportunity to join a leading analysis team in short-term power trading!

Here’s what the job entails

In the role, your primary function is to support the development and optimisation of strategies and machine learning models for the Flexible Asset Management team. This means that you will gain valuable experience with trading and optimisation of flexible assets.

Concretely, your areas of responsibility will include the following:

  • build and maintain quantitative models
  • understand the energy markets and the drivers behind them, including regulations, market developments, RES outbuild and data screening
  • test hypotheses and build trading strategies for the Flexible Asset Management team
  • contribute to the continuous development of the intraday infrastructure
  • perform ad hoc analysis tasks

Meet the team

As our new quantitative analyst, you will join our Intraday Analysis team, supporting our intraday trading teams by developing complex trading strategies and quantitative models. We are a team of 14 specialists in short-term power trading with backgrounds in economics, mathematics and engineering.

We are a motivated team of energy experts, approaching challenges with an analytical mindset and a curious outlook. You will join a dedicated team that always seeks to improve our strategies and processes to become even better at what we do.

"You will join a dedicated analysis team in short-term power trading and gain first-hand experience with the energy transformation from renewables to flexible assets such as batteries and combined heat and power plants (CHPs)" - Peter Lumbye Thomsen, Head of Intraday Analysis.

But enough about us… over to you!

As you will be working with a lot of different data, we imagine that you take a curious approach to data analysis – it is key that you are motivated to understand the data and how we can utilise it. Also, as we operate in an ever-changing market, we are looking for someone who thrives in a dynamic environment and has the ability to adapt their actions and way of thinking to market conditions.

Furthermore, we expect that you:

  • have a relevant educational background within Mathematics, Engineering, Physics, Economics, Finance or similar
  • have programming experience, e.g. with SQL, R or Python
  • are curious about the energy markets – and have a deep interest in building and optimising machine learning models
  • are proficient in English – both written and verbal

Please note that it is not a requirement to have prior knowledge of the energy industry to enter this role.
