Senior Portfolio Manager

Are you passionate about portfolio optimization and quantitative modeling? Are you ready to contribute to the growth of one of the world's fastest-growing energy trading companies? Look no further; we have an exciting opportunity for you at InCommodities!

We are looking for an experienced energy professional to join our Renewables Asset Management (RAM) team as Senior Portfolio Manager.

RAM is a newly established business area with the primary purpose of rethinking how power production from renewables can be optimized through artificial intelligence and high-quality software. With this platform, we offer risk management services to renewable owners, ensuring their financial rentability and supply of power to the energy market. We are a growing team, currently consisting of 14 colleagues, working with Portfolio Management, IT, and Quantitative solutions.

Making your impact as Senior Portfolio Manager

As a Senior Portfolio Manager, you will focus on enhancing our long-term risk modeling capabilities, particularly long-term fixed-price Pay-as-Produce (PaP) and balancing services. You will be working closely with our Quantitative Fundamentals team to fulfill the needs of our customers requesting five-to-ten-year PaP contracts to ensure the bankability of their projects.

In RAM, we believe in working across capabilities and the value chain. This means you will be in direct contact with our customers to understand their needs and the contractual terms better. You will provide price quotes to ensure the development of a profitable portfolio and, in general, explore and investigate potential problems and opportunities related to portfolio performance. The energy markets are constantly changing, so you must be updated on the latest developments to generate ideas for new structured products or mitigate new risks that arise.

We will ensure you are ready to take on your new role by giving you the best possible introduction to the team, our business, and our organization. We guarantee a fast-paced entrepreneurial environment and autonomy to make decisions and influence our commercial strategy.

Responsibilities

  • Be the primary driver of the development and maintenance of pricing models and tools
  • Generate additional profit and ensure customer retention by developing existing as well as new products and services
  • Calculate and communicate price quotes to customers
  • Lead the building of strategies for the different portfolios and markets
  • Provide continuous analysis and optimization of the portfolio performance
  • Research existing and new markets to help grow and expand our portfolio

Qualifications – we imagine that you:

  • Have more than four years of experience in managing the risk of Pay-as-Produced contracts
  • Can show a track record of business development activities in the form of research and implementation of new markets
  • Have a flair for seeing opportunities in how software can create value in process automation
  • Are fluent in English, both written and verbal
  • Have great coding skills in Python, but it is not a requirement

Personal skills – we expect that you:

  • Have a structured and systematic approach to your work
  • Are detail-oriented and quality-conscious
  • Have a curious mindset and are open to different tasks and challenges
  • Have a can-do attitude
  • Are outgoing and people-oriented

What you can expect from us:

  • An entrepreneurial mindset with an eagerness to be better every day
  • A unique company culture where we live up to our values: Honesty, Transparency, and Rethink, and where you don't have to be frustrated by too many rules, policies, or bureaucratic processes

About InCommodities

We’re InCommodities: One of the fastest growing trading companies in the world. The energy market is transitioning away from fossil fuels to renewable energy, and we take part in making that happen!

At InCommodities, we support the transition by acting as the middleman between sellers and buyers of power and gas - we transport energy across borders where it’s needed, or we store it and sell it later, providing a vital function in the value chain from production to consumption. InCommodities’ business and decision-making are driven by a deep understanding of the energy markets and based on quantitative analysis and rethinking what we do.

Making InCommodities outstanding requires all types of people with different personalities, backgrounds, and approaches to solving different tasks and projects. But one thing connects us: we're fuelled by new ideas and rethinking the status quo.

Our Culture

We value a strong social culture with a high frequency of employee events outside the office. We want to win and be the best in class – therefore, you'll be surrounded by like-minded people who are bold, honest, ambitious, and the smartest in their field, and who root for one another, as we value a genuine sense of team spirit.

To help each other grow, we use honest and constructive feedback and sparring within and across teams. Personality and cultural fit are important to us because we want you to be happy here. The work culture is relaxed; you don’t have to abide by a dress code or a strict hierarchy, so you won’t be frustrated with too many rules, policies, or bureaucratic processes.

In other words, InCommodities is not your average workplace – it’s awesome.
