We are looking for a Development Director ready to share and grow

Software & Quality Engineering Supports mission is to unlock velocity for the BEC's developer community through self-service and modern software and quality engineering tools, platforms, and procedures – resilient, secure and compliant.

This includes an effective Software Development Life Cycle, modern Software Development tools, Software Quality Assurance and application platforms like Container, Integration (API, Event streaming) and Observability & Monitoring platforms – across public cloud, private cloud and mainframe technologies.

The domain currently consists of 5 teams with 60 employees in Roskilde, Denmark and Warsaw, Poland.

“You will as Development Director lead the transformation and implementation effort towards a World Class Engineering Culture at BEC that will lead to the Employer of choice for ‘engineers’ in financial technologies.”, says Anja Steenstrup, Head of Division.

You and your team collaborate closely and cross-company together with Product Management, Architecture, Procurement, Risk & Security, Legal and not least of course the end-users of the service offerings – the software engineer, test engineers and software architect community at BEC.

Primary task and responsibilities include:

  • Delivery responsibility
  • Ensure BEC one backlog priority execution on scope, budget and schedule.
  • Engage in solution discussions, problem solving and impediment removal.
  • Support product management defining product vision and objectives.
  • Ensure teams haves necessary budget, resources, approvals, and other support.
  • People responsibility
  • Build high performing teams to effectively deliver on the backlog.
  • Develop and drive a culture of cross functional collaboration.
  • Recruitment, hiring and talent management.
  • Performance, professional and personal development of leaders and employees.
  • System portfolio management responsibility
  • Ensure development towards architectural principles, guidelines, and target state.
  • ProactiveProactively identifying high-level operations and maintenance projects and tasks.
  • Ensure system portfolio is resilient, secure, and compliant.
  • Identifying, monitoring, and mitigating any risks within line of work.

To succeed you will have:

  • Live and lead BEC’s leadership foundation
  • Drive the technology transformation of BEC together with BEC’s team of directors.
  • Communicate with key stakeholders and collect and share feedback.
  • Ensure transparency on decisions, progress, and results.
  • Strong understanding of software development and technology.
  • End-user focused and service minded.
  • Striving for maintaining services and solutions in best-in-class state.
  • Strong communication and leadership skills and able to act as “champion”.
  • End-to-end understanding of the end-user journey.
  • Passion and ability to drive a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Appetite for innovation and creation of cutting-edge solutions.
  • Master educational background as platform engineer, software engineer or similar
  • 10-15 years of IT experience from software companies
  • 5-8 years of IT leadership experience
  • Fluent in English (written and spoken)

It’s nice-to-have experience:

  • Cloud Service Providers (AWS, Azure, GCP) experience
  • DevOps or DevSecOps
  • API, Event streaming
  • Container platform
  • Software testing
  • Observability and monitoring
  • Solution or Application architecture
  • Financial industry experience
  • Mainframe experience
