Guide: Get the most out of your Job Agent

A Job Agent monitors the IT job market for you. You tell us what you're looking for – and we’ll notify you when relevant positions match your skills and interests. This way, you can stay updated without actively searching.

How does it work?

The Job Agent continuously scans new job postings and sends you the ones that match your criteria. You can stay passive in your job search – and still be among the first to discover new opportunities.

Two ways to create a Job Agent

  • Perform a job search and save it as a Job Agent.
  • Create and customize your Job Agent directly from your Job Agent overview.

Saving a search gets you started quickly. For more precision, you can create your Job Agent manually and fine-tune criteria such as technologies, job types, and locations.

How to set up a high-quality Job Agent

Job categories often provide more stable and relevant results than free text alone. Combine them with keywords to achieve both broad and precise results.

If you receive too many irrelevant jobs, you can exclude specific words by adding a minus (-) in front.

Example:

-internship -student assistant -junior

The same role can have many different titles. Consider variations such as developer, engineer, specialist, or consultant.

Use quotation marks for exact titles, e.g. "frontend developer".

Set your radius so you only receive jobs that are realistic for you – or include remote if relevant.

Too many keywords can make your Job Agent too narrow. Start broad and adjust as you review the results.

Find interesting job ads and use recurring terms and technologies – these often reflect what employers are actually looking for.

Adjust your Job Agent

Make your criteria more specific. Add exclusion keywords, choose fewer categories, or limit the location.

Broaden your search by removing keywords, adding more titles, or increasing your search radius.

If there are no new jobs matching your criteria, you won’t receive any emails. Also check your spam folder.
