Head of Embedded Software Engineering

Welcome to the Embedded SW Development Department
The Embedded SW development department is one of four different departments in the Automation platform & Security R&D function. We are developing a high performance engine control platform, based on advanced embedded controllers and many different custom designed I/O modules. The platform controls the largest marine engines of the world. The embedded SW development department consists of 15 passionate and highly qualified SW engineers and scrum masters.
In cooperation with several other R&D functions, we take part in the development of products and features from the early stage of idea and requirement specification, through the full cycle of development and testing. In the embedded SW team we work on a very critical part of the platform where timing critical functions and various interfaces and protocols are a part of the daily challenges. Secure by design and cyber security in general, is a large focus point for the team now and in the future.
You will play an important role in
As Head of Embedded SW engineering you will be part of the Automation Platform management team. You will work daily with our Hardware team and our Application SW team, plus a significant number of internal and external stakeholders. You will be the owner of the embedded SW platform, including technical roadmap, test strategy and cyber security.
As a Manager, your role is to create an environment where people thrive, feel safe to share ideas or doubts, and achieve great results together. You will ensure the right culture and competencies through recruitment and development. Together with your department you will plan the development activities to ensure that resources are spent in the best possible manner to reach the company strategy and create value for our company. Developing and maintaining a strong network across Everllence is an important part of the role.
We imagine that you
Have strong leadership and interpersonal skills, and that you communicate with honesty and respect. You are curious, collaborative, action-oriented and bring structure to a busy working day for yourself and your teams. Ideally, you hold a Master’s or bachelor degree in SW engineering (or similar) and have experience leading, highly skilled, embedded SW specialists and scrum masters.
What we are looking for:
- Five-ten years of experience as an embedded SW developer.
- Five years of experience leading a team of embedded SW engineers.
- Strong on agile SW development processes, at a mid to high maturity level.
- Experience with different embedded platforms such as ARM, and cyber security features such as secure boot, encryption etc.
- Experience in developing and executing platform and test strategies.
