Data Engineering Intern

Are you studying software engineering, data science, computer science or a similar field and looking to apply your skills in practice? Join Novo Nordisk Quality as a Data Engineering Intern and gain hands-on experience with Python, SQL, automated testing and cloud-based data pipelines.

Your new role

As a Data Engineering Intern, you will join the team behind the Quality Data Hub (QDH) — a cloud-based platform that transports and prepares quality-related data for reporting, planning, and advanced analytics. You will start with clearly defined technical tasks and receive regular guidance, feedback, and code reviews. As you grow in confidence, you will take ownership of selected improvements from implementation through testing and documentation.

Day-to-day, your tasks will include:

  • Improving data pipelines using Python and SQL
  • Adding automated tests and data quality checks
  • Investigating and fixing pipeline failures by reviewing logs, test results, and source data
  • Supporting improvements to our GitHub-based development and deployment processes
  • Maintaining workflows, technical documentation, and operational guides
  • Working with engineers and data specialists to understand requirements and find practical solutions

Your new department

In Enterprise IT & Quality, you will be part of a business area that drives impact across the full Novo Nordisk value chain. We strive to stay close to our stakeholders in the business to ensure we deliver on their needs, helping reach millions of people living with serious chronic diseases. Our focus is on being at the forefront within our three areas; ensuring the highest quality for patients, being a trusted tech leader and an environmentally responsible business.

The QDH team sits within Quality Analytics, where we develop and operate data solutions for Novo Nordisk's quality organisation. The Quality Data Hub runs on AWS, and the team is currently working on a migration to a Databricks-based architecture. Because the platform handles quality-related data, reliability, traceability, testing, and documentation are important parts of our daily work. This position will give you hands-on experience with both data engineering and the disciplined way software is developed in a regulated organisation.

Your skills & qualifications

We're looking for a curious and careful thinker who is eager to learn in a professional engineering environment. To thrive in this role, you:

  • Are currently studying for a degree in software engineering, computer science, data science, engineering, or a related subject at master's level
  • Have basic experience with Python, SQL, and Git
  • Understand fundamental software development concepts
  • Are interested in testing, debugging, and data quality
  • Work in a structured and careful way
  • Are comfortable asking questions and learning from feedback

Experience with AWS, Databricks, automated testing, data pipelines, or GitHub Actions is an advantage but not required. Previous experience from the pharmaceutical industry is also not required. You must be able to commit to 2-3 days on site a week.
