Quantitative analyst for Power Markets Analysis

Are you curious about energy markets and the impact of the energy transition? Do you know your way around coding in Python and SQL? And do you have an interest in financial contract valuation? Then you might be the perfect fit for our Power Markets Analysis team!

Here’s what the job entails

In the role, your primary responsibility is to provide analytical support to portfolio managers in our renewables trading team. You will dig into available data to help make smart investment decisions and gain valuable insight into the European energy market and its price trends.

More concretely, your tasks include:

  • collaborate with portfolio managers, traders and analysts to value financial products linked to energy generation
  • design valuation frameworks to support portfolio managers
  • improve existing valuation and hedging tools
  • support with ad-hoc analysis tasks
  • streamline repetitive workflows and tasks

Meet the team

As our new quantitative analyst, you will join our Power Markets Analysis team. We support the trading teams by analysing data thoroughly and giving a solid foundation for investment decisions. Our main focus is modelling the long term (up to 20 years) evolvement of the power market and prices across European zones.

We are a team of 10 specialists with backgrounds in engineering, physics, statistics and economics. We are curious and innovative, always digging deep into data for insights. We analyse with integrity and make sure to communicate results in a clear, understandable language. Our culture is informal and fun, with open communication and mutual respect.

You will have the chance to enter the engine room of the energy transition by helping evaluate financial contracts for wind and solar parks, batteries and hydropower plants. All while doing so, you will learn a lot about bringing renewable projects to life!

Jacob Østergaard Nielsen, Head of Power Markets Analysis

But enough about us… over to you!

Since you will be handling your own projects and deliverables, we are looking for an independent colleague who thrives with responsibility. And, as you will deal with various cases that require in-depth analysis for decision-making, we picture you take a data-driven and structured approach to solving-problems.

We also imagine that you:

  • have a relevant educational background, for instance engineering, physics, mathematics or economics.
  • are familiar with coding in Python and SQL
  • have an interest in (or perhaps experience with) financial contract valuation
  • enjoy working with various stakeholders
  • are proficient in English - both written and verbal
