Senior Cloud Architect – Shape the platform behind the world’s largest engines
You build cloud platforms. We simulate the control systems of the world’s largest two-stroke engines and cloud platforms to host it.
Our Cloud-based ECS Simulator is used at PrimeServ Academy to train engineers who operate, and service engines installed on vessels worldwide. It supports both instructor-led courses and structured self-learning modules, allowing engineers to interact with realistic engine control scenarios in a safe and scalable virtual environment.
But this is more than a training tool.
The cloud architecture behind the simulator holds long-term strategic potential. It can evolve into a foundation for digital twins and controlled pre-verification of OTA software updates before deployment to ships. That requires architectural clarity, stability and, ownership.
We are looking for a permanent Senior Cloud Architect who wants to anchor this capability inside the organization and shape its long-term direction.
You will play an important role in:
- Taking architectural ownership of the Cloud-based ECS Simulator platform.
- Defining and evolving our Azure-based cloud architecture.
- Driving modularization and long-term scalability.
- Refactoring and stabilizing parts of a legacy codebase.
- Strengthening infrastructure-as-code using Terraform.
- Improving CI/CD pipelines (Jenkins).
- Setting backend standards (Spring Boot / Java).
- Contributing hands-on in Python where relevant.
- Ensuring knowledge transfer and raising architectural maturity across the team.
This role combines strategy and execution, as you will both define direction and implement solutions.
A day in your new life
You start with coffee and a short technical sync. We speak openly about risks, trade-offs, and technical debt.
You review a backend component and outline how it should be decoupled to support future digital twin extensions. After lunch, you refine Terraform modules to ensure reproducible Azure environments and improve deployment robustness.
Later in the week, you challenge a design decision that optimizes for short-term speed but compromises long-term maintainability. That is part of the role.
We expect you to take ownership – and we expect you to work hands-on.
We imagine that you:
- Have strong experience with Azure cloud architecture.
- Are confident with Terraform and infrastructure-as-code.
- Have a solid backend experience (Spring Boot / Java).
- Understand DevOps practices and CI/CD (Jenkins).
- Are comfortable working directly in the codebase.
- Care about documentation, structure, and long-term maintainability.
- Communicate clearly and are comfortable challenging decisions constructively.
- Are fluent in written English (Danish or English speaking).
You are motivated by long-term responsibility, not just delivery milestones.
