Responsibilities and challenges

We are looking for a Senior Backend Developer to strengthen our software engineering capabilities. You will work on designing and delivering a digital solution that will ensure the discharge of hazardous substances into the Danish waters are in accordance with environmental quality requirements. You will be doing a difference for a cleaner Denmark.

You will be part of a collaborative and international team of developers, product owners, UX’ers, and domain experts, working closely together, based onsite in Denmark.

The main responsibilities and challenges in the job are:

  • Design, develop a backend applications using.NET technologies (you will be the lead developer through out the project)
  • Contribute to architecture and technical design of the solution
  • Build and optimize REST APIs and microservices
  • Ensure high software quality through testing, code reviews, and best practices
  • Troubleshoot and resolve performance and stability issues
  • Collaborate closely with local and international colleagues across disciplines
  • Contribute to technical documentation and knowledge sharing
  • Support continuous improvement of development processes and tools

Qualifications and personal skills

We are looking for a new colleague who will join us in developing digital solutions for water and environmental challenges and who has the following qualifications:

Required:

  • Minimum 6–8 years of experience in backend development
  • Strong expertise in C#, .NET, and ASP.NET Core
  • Experience with:
    • REST APIs and microservices architecture
    • SQL and database design/optimization
    • ORM frameworks (e.g. Entity Framework Core)
    • Unit and integration testing
    • GitHub
    • working in Agile/Scrum environments
  • Solid understanding of:
    • Software architecture and design principles
    • Performance, scalability, and memory management
  • Good communication skills in English (written and spoken)
  • Ability to document technical solutions clearly

Nice to have:

  • Experience with:
    • Event-driven architectures (e.g. RabbitMQ, MediatR)
    • Real-time applications (e.g. SignalR)
    • Containerization (Docker, Kubernetes)
    • Cloud platforms (e.g. Azure)
    • CI/CD pipelines and DevOps practices
    • Hands-on experience using AI agents in software development tasks such as code generation, testing, and CI/CD workflows.
  • Familiarity with:
    • External API integrations
    • Spatial data (GIS tools such as PostGIS or QGIS)
    • Experience with scripting (PowerShell, Python)
