Student Full-Stack Developer: Build an AI-Powered Fintech Platform from Zero to v1

Most student dev jobs hand you tickets at the edge of someone else's codebase. This one hands you the whole thing.

Northstone is an AI-enabled bookkeeping firm for small Danish businesses, built on e-conomic. We are about to build the internal platform our whole operation will run on, and we want a student developer to build version 1. Not assist with it. Build it.

What you will build

The engine that runs our monthly close, end to end:

  • A workflow engine that orchestrates the close across roughly 50 clients: tasks, deadlines, escalations, approvals
  • AI features that do real work, not demos: automated quality checks on the books, generated work plans, drafted client emails and reports
  • Deep integration with the e-conomic API (Denmark's leading SME accounting platform)
  • A client onboarding wizard and a versioned context layer that captures what the system learns about each client, close after close

WHY THIS IS NOT A NORMAL STUDENT JOB

  • The spec is done. A 13-section PRD and a clickable prototype already exist. You start building on day one, not guessing what we want.
  • Your code ships to real users fast. Our bookkeeping team lives in this platform from the first release. Your software closes real books for real companies.
  • You help pick the stack. We set constraints (EU data residency, sane and maintainable choices), you have a real voice in everything else.
  • You work directly with the founder. No layers, no sprints-about-sprints. Questions answered in hours.
  • Honest trade-off: you are our first developer. There is no senior engineer reviewing your pull requests. If you want scaffolding and mentorship, this is the wrong job. If you want ownership most developers wait ten years for, there is nothing better.

YOU

  • A student in the Copenhagen area. Any university, any program, any nationality; we work in English, Danish is not required (client-facing text in the product is Danish, and we supply it)
  • Can ship full-stack web software on your own: a modern backend language, SQL, a frontend framework
  • Write code you can defend: tests where they matter, migrations that do not lose data
  • Curious about LLM-powered features, and rigorous about when not to trust them
  • Available at least 25 hours/week, worked whenever fits your schedule

Nice to have: experience with accounting or fintech APIs, Postgres, LLM integrations beyond a chat wrapper, opinions about workflow engines.

Practical

  • Competitive hourly pay
  • Minimum 25 hours/week, fully flexible: work remotely and at the hours that fit your studies, with occasional in-person sessions in Copenhagen
  • You must be legally able to work 25+ hours/week in Denmark.
  • Start: as soon as we find the right person
