We are sailing towards new technological horizons – towards service architecture, a scaled agile framework, software recycling and alignment between product teams. Are you ready for the opportunity to take the helm and keep us on the right course?

Bunker Holding Group – fueling the future

At Bunker Holding Group, we specialize in buying, selling and supplying marine fuel and lubricating oil to ships. With an ever-changing market, and our desire to move towards greener fueling solutions, trading is becoming increasingly complex.

As such, we are constantly improving our in-house product suites to help and support our colleagues in the E2E processes in the commodity trading market. The director of technology will be responsible to ensure a modern operation platform and ServiceDesk function, allowing us to support our global business.

We have a strategic approach to outsourcing, where much of our infrastructure is sourced, mostly from our sister company Unit IT.

Keep the ship sailing smoothly – the technology area is our operational foundation

As we make our technological advances, you will be there to facilitate collaboration across your department, keep us heading in the right direction and ensure continued technical feasibility of our solutions, quality of service and operational stability. To do so, you will:

  • Provide leadership to your department – which encompasses 22 people in Infrastructure & Platforms and ServiceDesk with two managers, as well as supporting functions in direct report: Contract & License management and financial controlling
  • Utilize our suppliers and their offerings and provide strong vendor management and continue the very good collaboration with our sister company Unit It, who is our preferred outsourcing partner, so outsourcing plays a key part in the operational setup
  • Set the operational standards and principles for our engineers to apply in order to maintain technical and operational fit, ensuring a long term roadmap with focus on working with technical debt and supporting the business
  • Ensuring that all stakeholders are informed and advised, and that the rest of the group are supported by a strong and efficient IT foundation and serviced by an engaged ServiceDesk supporting more than 70 offices globally
  • Overall budget responsible for the operation, infrastructure and licenses in close collaboration with the controller and the IT management team, ensure visibility and business acumen together with contract and license management

Ensure that we are supporting Bunker Holding with stability and operational excellence

In BHG IT we are constantly moving, growing and evolving, and we truly believe that people are our most important asset in our continuous journey, we are a people company.

We are an agile and product-centric organization, and strive to be able to scale our digital setup for the future. Now, we are ready to take the next step in our digital journey and our organization is set up for this, our leadership responsibility is divided into five areas: Architecture & Intelligence, Portfolio, Product Delivery, Technology and Cyber Security.

We strongly believe this will drive our business and ensuring IT and Business collaboration, help us embrace opportunities and enable the areas to focus on what they do best, with separation of duties and owning the area.

This enables you, as Director of Technology, to fully dedicate your time to leadership and management of the area, while other colleagues focus on their respective area, but with a close collaboration with a unified management team, all 5 directors, the CIO and all managers with direct reports are forming a united management team.

Great leader with a nose for tech and operations through strong vendor management

You have sound experience with strategic planning and execution, preferably through teams and functions across a large organization. It is a huge advantage if you have done so in organizations undergoing large transitions on a global scale.

You have extensive experience in IT operations, including managing a 24/7 ServiceDesk as well as a proven track record in managing large-scale IT projects from inception to completion. Practical experience with ITSM and ITIL would be beneficial - this could be from previous positions as an operations lead, solutions specialist, IT manager or similar.

In terms of your soft skills, you are ideally:

  • Knowledgeable about technology and all its possibilities – you don’t need in-depth knowledge of e.g., Azure or Datacenters but rather a broad proficiency that enables you to understand, communicate about and challenge it
  • Structured and analytical in your approach to change and development
